Peter Adrian
Board Goals
If elected to the National Recycling Coalition Board of Directors, I would like to take an active part in both the policy and business development committees. I believe that the work of all NRC members is vital to maintaining effective materials management systems and is critical to the continued growth and development the recycling industry in North America. I believe my knowledge and experience would provide valuable support to all aspects of our organization.
Professional Experience and Qualifications
I have been an active member of the National Recycling Coalition through my involvement in the Illinois Recycling Association and through my attendance at NRC Congresses and Resource Recycling Conferences. As active member of the Illinois Recycling Association, I served on the IRA Board of Directors from 2001 to 2010. I began my career in 1994 as the Director of Recycling Services at Northern Illinois University. In 1997 I took on the position of Solid Waste Coordinator for DeKalb County, Illinois and in 2001 I began my currently position with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, Illinois where I assist 42 Lake County municipalities with various recycling and waste reduction initiatives. I also serve as board member of the Illinois Counties Solid Waste Management Association and maintain membership with Solid Waste Association of North America, the International Society of Sustainability Professionals and the Illinois Food Scrap Coalition.
Educational Qualifications
I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Northern Illinois University. I am also recognizes as a Certified Sustainable Resource Management Professional through the Illinois Recycling Association and Kankakee Community College.
Holly Arthur
Board Goals
Recycling is experiencing a transition around the globe – from shifts in international trade policy to changes in local residential recycling programs. Now more than ever, the NRC has a vital role to play by pulling together stakeholders across the recycling industry to focus on solutions and promoting the value that recycling has to society. I would be honored to represent ISRI and its membership on the NRC, and to continue Robin Wiener’s valuable work at the board level.
Professional Experience and Qualifications
With more than 20 years of experience in many roles in communications and public affairs, I would be honored to help the coalition promote the importance of recycling with both influencer and general audiences. I have a deep background in finding synergies across coalition groups members, and have frequently served as a liaison to such stakeholder organizations on behalf of trade associations.

I have a graduate degree in business administration from the University of Limerick in Ireland, with a BA in English from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va.
Maggie Clarke
Board Goals
As a Ph.D. zero waste researcher, consultant, and educator, I want to contribute to NRC’s renaissance by creating new programs to keep members well-informed. I have been working on the NRC Library to organize this as a clearinghouse of useful recycling information and innovative educational programs and webinars for for the benefit of NRC members, the ROC, and the general public. I will use my decades organizing conferences for other organizations and testifying at legislatures and agencies to assist the critical mission of NRC’s outreach to legislatures and the press. I would like to serve NRC in researching and gathering information and producing white papers on topics like the impact on climate change of using zero waste solutions like recycling, and methods of recycling and reuse measurement, I’d like to assist the policy committee to update and create new policies in light of zero waste. I can help NRC by continuing to plan for the Zero Waste Conference.

Alec Cooley
Board Goals
Build on the momentum of bringing data & data-based decisions to the recycling industry. An increase in the visibility of this data will promote awareness an education about the industry, but also push us towards the standardization of collection from county-to-county and state-by-state.
Professional Experience and Qualifications
Alec has over 25 years of experience in the recycling field, most recently as senior advisor to Busch Systems, as of August 2018. He began his career as an operations manager for the Arcata Community Recycling Center, before spending nine years at Humboldt State University managing the school’s solid waste and recycling programs. Alec next worked as a project manager for the National Recycling Coalition from 2006 to 2009. Between 2009 and 2018 he served as director of recycling program at Keep America Beautiful, where he oversaw public space recycling initiatives including grant programs, research projects and development of resources to expand and improve recycling in away-from-home settings. Through his positions at NRC and KAB, he also served as the program manager for both the RecycleMania competition and College and University Recycling Coalition (CURC) Webinar Series between 2006 and 2018. Alec served on the boards of the CRRA (2002 to 2006) and the CRA (2010 to 2012).

Board Goals
I wish to build the integrity and effectiveness of the National Recycling Coalition by joining the Board and contributing my experience, reputation and dedication to achieving true sustainable resource management in the US. I believe fresh leadership is necessary to foster better policy development and innovation to solve the global recycling crisis and protect the climate by being more resource responsible domestically: prioritizing and incentivizing waste prevention, aligning market-based tools to increase demand for recycled feedstock, removing hurdles to food waste composting and making meaningful progress toward achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals. With 30 years’ experience in the recycling/zero waste field and an awareness of the challenges ahead to engage industry and citizens in creating a composting and recycling society that restores and does not deplete our planet, I welcome the opportunity to serve.

Lisa Rider
Board Goals
Lisa is interested in joining the National Recycling Coalition to facilitate collaborative efforts that improve domestic markets, develop best management practices for regional closed-loop systems, and create conversation about how to reduce contamination in the recycle stream.
Professional Experience and Qualifications
Lisa has over 16 years of local government solid waste experience and dedicates her focus on infrastructure planning with waste reduction and closed-loop recycling in-mind. Lisa served on the Carolina Recycling Association Board, and past President of the Plastic Ocean Project board, where she facilitated their original strategic plan.
In her spare time, Lisa is a certified Dive Master and enjoys wreck diving with sharks. Since her passion is the ocean, naturally she initiated the NC Marine Debris Symposium (www.marinedebrissymposium.com) and serves on the Mid-Atlantic NOAA Marine Debris Program Consortium, the NC Marine Debris Advisory Committee, and is co-writer of the NC Marine Debris Assessment and Plan. Professional Awards: NC Governor’s Conservation Achievement Award as the Conservation Communicator of the Year in 2016, North Carolina Environmental Educator of the Year in 2011, and the Carolina Recycling Association Recycler of the Year in 2014.

Lisa Rider has a A.A., B.S. and N.D. She is also SWANA certified in Manager of Landfill Operations, Manager of Recycling Systems, and a certified Practitioner of Zero Waste Principals and Practices. Lisa has over 25 years of volunteer experience that is directly related to waste reduction and recycling efforts. With over 15 years of local government waste reduction and recycling work, she has dedicated her career and life’s passion to using the first law of ecology to help fellow citizens to better understand the impact of their daily consumer decisions on the coastal community environment. Lisa has worked as a International Coastal Cleanup coordinator for 20 years, Keep American Beautiful Affiliate director for over 15 years, local Solid Waste Department (Onslow County, NC) Deputy Director for 13 years, and has initiated programs such as Countywide School Recycling, Oystershell Recycling, Local Government Electronics Recycling, Coastal W.R.A.P. Program, and more.
