National Product Policies Town Hall Description:
The National Zero Waste Conference is presenting a National Product Policies Town Hall & Webinar next in our webinar series. Many healthy debates arise when discussing the gamut of product recycling and disposal policies. Are bans and fees useful tools to encourage waste reduction, reuse, recycling and composting? Why is there more interest in deposits on beverage containers in recent years? Are Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs best used for hard to recycle materials? Join this webinar for a moderated Town Hall-style event, featuring a fantastic panel of experts. Help identify areas of consensus among the different perspectives on the panel. There will be a robust discussion of these and other topics with panelists to help build a better understanding of various policies, with a lively Q&A session! Feedback from panelists and attendees will be used to guide how NRC should update its policies on these issues. The NRC Policy Committee will compile the results of these sessions into recommendations for action to the NRC Board of Directors to consider in updating NRC policies and programs to support these topic areas.
Topics to be discussed include: Bans, Fees, Deposits (including Bottle Bills), Minimum Content, Extended Producer Responsibility

Implementing Zero Waste on Campuses and in Businesses
Septmeber 24, 9am-11pm PST / 12-1pm EST
Adopting a formal Zero Waste goal and action plan is a watershed moment for a large organization’s waste reduction program. They mark the point where a university, corporate or other type of large institution sets a course moving beyond a simple waste management program toward a sustainable materials management system rooted in the circular economy. Of course goals and a plan are just the starting point. The next challenge is to implement them.
This webinar will feature a panel of speakers from universities and corporations at different stages of implementing Zero Waste plans. The program will start with an introduction to each institution’s planning to date, followed by a roundtable discussion on the various challenges and opportunities each has faced along the way.

Introducing the NZWC Virtual Exhibit Hall
NRC is planning to use a fantastic virtual conference platform called Remo to host the Virtual Exhibit Hall. Remo allows attendees a high degree of interaction for small group and one-on-one networking.
In Remo, attendees are presented with a virtual floor map with multiple “tables” labeled for sponsors in the Exhibit Hall, table topics for small group discussions, or left open for informal and one-on-one conversations. Attendees can move between tables on their own and are able to see everyone else who is “in the room”. When the user moves to a table, they join a live session that looks like Zoom with everyone else at the table. Below is a screen shot of a sample floor map. Take a spin via YouTube on Remo 101 or sign up for a Guided Tour on the Remo website.
