Thank you for your interest in attending the National Recycling Coalition (NRC) Sustainable Materials Management Summit (SMM Summit) taking place May 12 -13, 2015 at the University of Maryland. Completing this application allows your participation to be considered as an Attendee, but not guaranteed, due to limited space and a desire for balanced representation.* All applications will be evaluated by the NRC SMM Summit leadership within 24 hours of receipt and their decisions are final.
All those who submit applications understand that upon acceptance they will be responsible for all costs associated with the travel to and from the Summit, as well as for a registration fee of $285 for NRC members and $335 for non-members. NRC Members subtract $50 for applications submitted before or on April 24, 2015.
Attendees are also invited to submit a White Paper that will be considered in developing our Summary document for the Summit (guidelines can be found here) and as input to the development of the National Sustainable Materials Management Action Plan after the Summit.
*Criteria to ensure balanced representation may be:
– Geography (want attendees from all over the U.S.)
– Affiliations (want every aspect of NRC membership and SMM represented by different groups, including: generating businesses (from wide variety of NAICS sectors, manufacturers, retailers and offices), service providers (reuse, recycling, composting and digestion collectors, processors, markets), government (federal, state and local), environmental/NGOs; urban/suburban/rural, institutional (including higher education); academic (including faculty and students, K-12 and higher education)
– Issues focus (e.g., upstream, clean production, redesign, reduce, reuse, repair, recycling, composting; C&D, digestion, food recovery, product stewardship, market development, jobs, climate change, sustainability, culture change, education and training, procurement, and green building)
– Demographics (including gender, age, and race)
Tuesday night (May 12) there will be informal small discussion dinners available for you to attend. You must pre-register to participate. You can see what topics will be covered, see descriptions of each dinner, and sign up for a dinner here. Cost of dinner is on your own.
