Director, Zero Waste San Diego
Laura Anthony is a 2nd generation zero waste community organizer. Graduated from San Diego State University with a Women’s Students major and a Communications Minor in 2000 and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University in 2012.
In 2007, she helped start and now current President of a local nonprofit organization called Zero Waste San Diego. She helped integrated the zero-waste approach when handling discards for the San Diego Earth Fair that hosts over 60,000 attendees for a one-day event. She has also hosted over a dozen conferences, workshops and symposiums in the hopes to educated our community on the importance of adopting the zero waste approach in the County.
In 2016, Laura Anthony started the SD Fixit Clinic a chapter of the Fixit Clinics established by Peter Mui in Berkey, CA. She has hosted over 100 clinics throughout the county of San Diego and helped repair over 3000 lbs. of reusable items that would have otherwise gone to the landfill. Her main focus is to bring back the repair mentality to the communities by working with like minding organizations.
In 2019, Laura Anthony joined the Zero Waste USA Family and became the Program Coordinator of Save the Albatross Coalition that focuses on advocating for connect the bottle caps to containers as means to prevent marine debris in the Albatross habitat.
